Construction Under Complex Topographical Conditions
Ashtrom Construction completed the construction of the Bart Project - 3 buildings, 5 storeys high, with 112 housing units, including garden appartments and penthouses. The overground area of the structures is around 14,750 sq.m. and the basement area is approx. 5,900 sq.m.
The construction of the residential complex was characterised by engineering and logistical challenges, primarily due to the site's complex conditions. The narrow two-way street, lined with parking on both sides, and a large supermarket at the entrance with trucks unloading throughout the day, made the transport of materials and equipment to the building site particularly difficult.
The works included the disconnection of infrastructures and demolition of 3X3 storey-high existing buildings, together with operations to preserve and relocate the trees within the project complex. In the initial stages excavation works were carried out to a depth of 7.5 m. and groundwater pumped out from soil characterised by clayey sand layers. The construction process was typified by preserving the character of the terraced house, the use of a large number of unique architectural items and varied raw materials both in the buildings themselves and in the environmental development.
