Urban Renewal Project in the Heart of a Congested Neighbourhood
The Miriam Hashmonait complex currently under construction in the old northern area of Tel Aviv is an urban renewal project in the course of which 3 rows of existing terraced houses were demolished and replaced by 4 blocks rising 8 storeys containing 104 apartments of different sizes to varying specifications. The overall area of the complex is 3.8 dunams ,the built-up area totalling around 21,000 sq.m.
As part of the construction process, excavation and shoring works were carried out to a depth of 40 metres, with 2 parking levels being provided. In addition, industrialised building façades were mounted and pools built on the rooftops of the structures. The project used 14,000 cu.m. of concrete and 1,800 tonnes of steel. The central challenges facing the site crews are having to work in the middle of a congested residential neighbourhood with narrow streets and in close proximity to a school and kindergarten. Throughout all phases of the work, Ashtrom Construction pays attention to building safety, meticulous logistic planning, lateral management and tight quality control.
