Construction Challenges in a Mega Transportation Project

The Jerusalem Central Station stands as one of Israel's largest transportation hubs, serving as a key departure point for buses traveling to various cities and towns across the nation. In 1995, it was decided to replace the old station building with a new one, aimed at increasing capacity and integrating additional commercial spaces. In January 1998, Ashstrom Company won the tender for this project, marking the commencement of construction on the new station.

Unlike other central stations in the country, the Jerusalem station is a unique 10-story, enclosed structure. It houses office floors, bus platforms, numerous commercial areas, and underground parking levels, covering a total area of 66,166 sqm.
